Ivan Girotto one of the key members of MaX consortium from International Centre for The

“MaX is important because it will drive the development of scientific tools for material discovery at the exascale.”

Driving the scientific dissemination and partnership

MaX offers training to a generation of code developers and scientists in computational materials research, including specialized and hands-on courses to provide state-of-the-art technical information and know-how.

ICTP will help MaX, as part of the work package (WP) 8, in providing specialized training and education as well as scientific dissemination in computational materials science. ICTP also foster a partnership between MaX and the joint SISSA/ICTP Master in HPC to sustain skills development complemented by the availability of ICTP facilities and experience in international scientific events as an EU-led global opportunity for scientists from emerging economies as active participants and enabling exchanges with world-class scientists within the MAX network.

ICTP as UNESCO’s Centre for science and education

As UNESCO category 1 centre for science and education, ICTP is the hub where scientists from developing countries can either collaborate or get in contact with MaX staff members in the form of scientific collaboration and/or participation to conferences and MaX related events.

Impact to the future Horizon Europe

Ivan Girotto highlighted the importance of MaX, as a scientific community, ICTP is extremely interested in making sure that MaX initiatives and achievements will reach also the scientific communities in developing countries.
