With the approach adopted and a strong orientation to co-design, M A X will pave the way for the transition to and beyond exascale technologies. M A X will adopt a sustainable software development strategy to cope with the abrupt technological disruptions to be expected in the years to come, whereby exascale ready software solutions will be easily ported and shared across different codes, thus realising a substantial economy of scale, and shortening the time needed to adapt to a rapidly evolving technology.
