Graphene Week 2019

The Graphene Week 2019 just started in Helsinki (Finland)!

MaX Centre of Excellence in collaboration with the Graphene Flagship will present two activities on September 24, 2019:

1 | Fringe session: "European HPC initiatives and 2D materials research: collaborating and funding opportunities"
from 14.30 to 15.30
Chair: Elisa Molinari, Director of the MaX Centre of Excellence

With new funding initiatives available in the field of high-performance computing (HPC) and materials research — this Graphene Week 2019 workshop is not to be missed. This session will explore the upcoming advances and potential challenges in 2D materials research enabled by HPC and several collaborating and funding opportunities available in this exciting area of research. This includes the potential support for collaboration with academia, industry and small to medium sized enterprises.
The session comes at a time when investments into supercomputing are high. In fact, EuroHPC is already pooling large investments to develop a world-class European supercomputing infrastructure. During the session, Molinari will illustrate why these initiatives should be of interest to the Graphene Flagship community and industry professionals

2 | Graphene Flagship - MaX joint workshop on “High-performance computing for 2D materials research"
from 15.30 to fringe
Chair: Elisa Molinari, Director of the MaX Centre of Excellence and Vladimir Falko, Director of NGI

Following the fringe session, there will be a parallel session to further discuss this interesting field of study. The workshop will examine the modelling of complex 2DM systems, properties of novel 2DM, the development of computational approaches and high throughput computation in 2DM research.
